Information Regulator opens 2024/25 PAIA annual reporting period

The Information Regulator of South Africa has officially called on all public and private bodies to submit their Annual PAIA Reports for the 2024/2025 reporting period. The submission window opens on 1 April 2025 and will close on 30 June 2025.

In terms of section 32 of the Promotion of Access to Information Act (PAIA), every Information Officer (IO) of a public body is required to report annually on the access to information requests received and processed. Likewise, Heads of Private Bodies (HPBs) and Deputy Information Officers (DIOs) are also required to comply under section 83(4).

The annual reports will help the Regulator assess:

  • The number and nature of information requests received,
  • Whether these were responded to within the statutory timeframes,
  • Internal appeals lodged and their outcomes, and
  • Overall usage and compliance with PAIA across sectors.

To streamline compliance, the Regulator has developed a digital eServices portal for online submission of reports, accessible at:

https://eservices.inforegulator.org.za

Important Note

Only registered IOs, HPBs, and DIOs may submit reports. Step-by-step guides for registration and submission are available on the portal. Bodies are encouraged to submit early and avoid last-minute technical difficulties.
